in November 1962, after a great deal of amendments to the Board that existed before.
Its headquarters are in Nehru Place, New Delhi. The official languages used by the
CBSE are Hindi and English. Almost all that one needs to know about the Board may
be found on
www.cbse.nic.in.
The Board conducts final examinations every spring; the All India Secondary School
Examination for Class X (AISSE) and the All India Senior Secondary School Certificate
Examination ((AISSCE)) for Class XII. The Board also annually conducts the AIEEE for
admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture in numerous
colleges spread over India.

Technology and Fine Arts. For Commerce, these are Business Studies, Accountancy,
Economics and Computer Science/Information Technology and Mathematics.
From October 2010, the CBSE has opted for the implementation of Continuous and
Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in Class IX and X. This process of evaluation
includes and reflects all components of the personality of the student. It takes into
consideration, not only learning in scholastic areas, but also life skills, attitudes, values,
interests and achievements in co-curricular activities.
IGCSE is the international qualification for 14-16 year old students and is equivalent to
the Class X Board Examinations in India. The curriculum offers a broad range of
subjects both academic and vocational which helps students gain entry into a University
of their choice or alternately, a professional course. The choice of subjects is vast and
there is a lot of flexibility designed into the curriculum in terms of opportunities for
further education and exposure to modern learning content. The curriculum also lends
itself very well to the use of standard teaching methodology as well as alternate
teaching techniques. The subjects offered for IGCSE (Class X) are English as a First
Language or English as a Second Language, Hindi or Spanish as a Foreign Language,
Mathematics Core or Extended, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information and
Communication Technology or Art & Design, Economics or Global Perspectives,
Business Studies or Design Technology. The subjects offered for AS/A-Levels (Class XI
and XII) are English, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics,
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Thinking Skills and Art & Design. The
combination of subjects are optional, however in total, the minimum requirement is four
subjects.
The curriculum is currently recognized by more than 50 Universities, Boards and other
educational bodies in India. The curriculum is also one of those accepted by a multitude
of Universities and Colleges in many countries including the US, UK, Australia and
many European nations. Further details are available at the Cambridge International
Examinations website
www.cie.org.uk/aboutcie. Please contact
ciecordinator@kasigaschool.com for details regarding the choice of subjects available at
Kasiga School.
Art, Design Technology, Computer Studies and Music are an essential part of the
curriculum. An hour a day, after lunch is devoted to Activities like Art, Music, Dance,
Web-Designing, Pottery, Design Technology, etc supervised by trained teachers.
Students have a choice and may choose upto one or two activities.
The Remedial Class is an essential mechanism to give students an opportunity to have
a better understanding of their academic course. These classes are student and unit
specific. Students with special needs in subjects like Mathematics and English are given
special Remedial Classes.
We vigorously strive to achieve excellence in academics by addressing all aspects of learning which include:
- Knowledge: The fact that the student should be able to recall to ensure
competence in the subject.
- Understanding: How the student will be able to interpret, apply or predict aspects
of the subject.
- Skills: How the student will be able to apply what has been learned in new
situations.
- Attitudes: How the student is changed by the learning experience.
The School provides the students with flexible opportunities of learning and expressing
themselves. Each classroom has an open area at the back for learning through activity,
both independently and collaboratively. Ample opportunities are given to the students to
develop skills in public communication via debate, elocution, dramatics and music.
