‘Have a heart – Lend a hand – Make a difference.’
Green Schools Initiative (GSI) is an educational outreach programme provisioned by Kāsiga to educate students about environmental sustainability, and to teach them about measures that each one of us can take in our individual capacities to reduce the carbon footprint.
As students work within their community, they learn that they can be responsible for making great things happen. They meet new people, work with new organizations, and strengthen their ties with the community. This helps to integrate a sense of responsibility and pride when they see that whatever they have done and contributed is actually helping others.
They learn to collaborate in teams which help them improve on their team building and interpersonal skills. This also helps them understand their own competence better, which results in developing self-confidence and a ‘can-do’ attitude that spreads to their work and academic pursuits.
