People have differing opinions on which type of education is better, traditional or modern and according to philosophers, they both play a significant role as modern education is primarily inherited from traditional education. Twenty first century education is predominantly not only about teaching skills that are relevant today but as well as in the future. However, educators must be cognizant of skills that were taught in the past, as it is those skills that serve as stepping stones to the skills presently required. Hence, at Kāsiga an amalgamation of both types of education is the pedagogy practised and which a child receives.
CURRICULUM
CAIE
Kāsiga offers the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) curriculum which is highly sought after and globally accepted, especially by students seeking admission to reputed universities in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and other overseas countries,. Kāsiga offers the IGCSE, AS and A Levels qualifications.
Cambridge IGCSE, a two year course, is the world’s most popular international qualification for students of classes 9 and 10. Developed over 30 years ago, it is tried, tested and trusted by schools worldwide. It offers more options than any other international qualification. Kāsiga offers a choice of 17 subjects. Cambridge AS and A levels is also a two year course which the students study after graduating from IGCSE. Kāsiga has been pioneering this curriculum since 2009 and our students have found placements in leading universities.
CBSE
We have a broad and balanced curriculum, which is based on the guidelines established by the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), published by the NCERT. Our faculty is well-trained and equipped to deliver the curriculum ensuring each student is challenged and encouraged to achieve his or her potential in all subjects. Active Learning strategies are employed to make the teaching-learning experiences more interesting and rewarding. At the start of every new topic, the Learning Objectives are discussed ensuring students awareness and agreement on their achievements by the end of the lesson, which is followed up with a quick recapitulation of the students’ previous knowledge associated with the topic that serves as a determiner according to which the teacher should proceed. As the student is the one who needs to learn and be trained, a pragmatic approach is adopted as it offers experiential learning.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Academic excellence alone cannot be the yardstick of a child’s ability. A child needs to develop spiritually, artistically as well as physically. It is Kasiga’s ethos to provide multiple opportunities to its students to hone their skills through various co-curricular activities which inculcate character and personality development while improving other skills to support and encourage holistic development. Students are provided with opportunities to pursue their dreams and aim to excel, through a plethora of activities. Students can find, their voice, feet and finally themselves, to name a few – Fine Arts, Dance, Music and Poetry. Theatre is another integral part of the school curriculum that envelopes
many skills and creative outlets. As long as the creativity in a child is kept alive, their positivity, power to absorb and to be able to apply knowledge automatically increases.
SPORTS
Participating in physical activities and sports has a two-fold advantage. It ensures fitness and tones muscles which keep students’ active and energetic whilst on the other hand it helps develop important values and qualities, to name a few: sportsmanship, determination, collaboration, ambition, humility, perseverance and team loyalty. Hence, the value of physical activities is an integral component of child development here at Kāsiga. The facilities and professional coaching offered is evident from our infrastructure because without it, it would barely be possible to help produce the desired results. Cricket, the most popular sport in India is given its due diligence in Kāsiga, and its picturesque BCCI approved ground provides all budding cricketers the best facilities to develop their skills besides giving them a head start in experiencing the game at higher levels. Kāsiga provides high quality facilities for other sports like Lawn tennis, Table tennis, Soccer, Rifle shooting, Pistol shooting, Swimming, Athletics and Hockey.
CO-EDUCATION
Co-education brings about many advantages that contribute to the development of personality and attitudes of a student at Kāsiga imbibing confidence and aptitude in different social settings. It is easier for a child who has been through the co-educational experience to contribute positively regardless of their gender, and this inclusive environment is integral to a child’s social and behavioural development. Further, co- education supports awareness and dissipates gender biases that conservative societies may have knowingly or unknowingly, introduced. The students flourish in an environment of gender equality which is perhaps, one of the most important values needed for progressive minds.
For a future of significance in which your child becomes a valuable contributor to society filled with compassion and commitment, Kāsiga offers the best environment along with many modern-day facilities. We bring onboard the mediums that magnify your child’s dreams and construct the adequate means to see them all come true!
