At Kāsiga, we lay a lot of focus on establishing an overall balance for all our students. As the children grow and go through rapid changes in the mind, body and soul, their diet becomes all the more important.
We understand this concern and call in specialists to help students get all the nourishment necessary for their growth. Students are provided with hygienic, nutritious, well-balanced and flavourful meals that fuel them to excel in studies, sports and other co-curricular activities. Let us dive deeper into aspects like nutrition and hygiene that define the food served at our school mess.
Nutrition
We work with Nutritionists who help us plan the right meal for all students at Kāsiga. There are many factors kept in mind before planning the meals. Proteins, carbohydrates, fatty acids, sugar, salt, etc are thoughtfully incorporated to ensure well balanced yet delicious meals.
Hygiene
The kitchen team takes proper care to ensure that the children are served clean and healthy food. All the raw food supply is first washed and cleaned before it enters the main kitchen. The chefs use protective gloves and hair nets to stop food contamination. It is extremely crucial to keep the kitchen hazard-free in order to ensure that the food is safe to eat. The processing of food from cleaning to being served goes through the basic measures of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) which is followed worldwide to ensure that the food is at its highest level of hygiene.
The Central Dining Hall
We have a unique mess with an ergonomically designed seating that provides students with the ease of eating. The modern design is pleasing to the eye and compliments the vibrant and nutritious food. The school offers a buffet type service which helps reduce wastage as the students only take as much as they can consume. The menu changes every week and doesn’t allow food to get monotonous.
Balance
The food needs to be nutritious enough for a student who is actively taking part in sports as well as spending time studying and growing intellectually. Food is provided in strategic intervals to ensure that the students always have the right amount of energy to keep going. There is equal variety for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The school serves Indian, Continental and Thai cuisines as choices.
We at Kāsiga ensure that each and every student keeps this balance to maintain a healthy present and future. Our nutritionist, Ms. Tanya Khanna (M.Sc. Public Health Nutrition), is a Gold Medalist Life Member of the Indian Dietetics Association (IDA) and the founder of Nutrinya (Health and Wellness). It is near impossible to go wrong with food under her guidance. She has also written articles in the school newsletter which throws light on growing problems in children’s diet and how to tackle them. We are proud of the food we serve, and it makes us happy to see our students as healthy as the food we serve.
